Has Plan B's plan B been to actually return more to his heavy-hitting spitting after luring all the radio heads in with his sing songs? This is the trailer for the more radio-friendly 'The Recluse' but appears to have nothing whatsoever to do with that track. Come on Plan B - let's hear 'Ballad of Belmarsh' for real.

'Stay Too Long' - Plan B (video + free download)

You've probably heard Plan B's latest track on the radio - I know I have. I first heard it when I got sent it and I really intended to put it on my podcast (which never happened because I never have time). Anyway, I really rate it as a track - Plan B has definitely improved with time (I wasn't a massive fan of his old, depressing music) and I actually like his radio-friendly direction (original track below). He's now also got Drum 'n' Bassers Pendulum on board with this remix - not bad.

'Shifty - The Mixtape' (free download)

Promoting a movie with a mixtape - now there's an idea eh? Shifty (which I didn't manage to get to last night) is out in cinemas on Friday and the crew have put together a mix of tracks and film dialogue for you to download.

It kicks of with the gorgeous strings of Roots Manuva's 'Dreamy Days' and then Burial kicks in - nice! On the UK Hip Hop side of things Riz MC, Sway, Plan B and Fallacy & Fusion feature. A fair few other genres are represented too by the likes of Bjork, Shy FX & T-Power and Toasty. Get it and bump it now for the general beats.

'Shifty' - Riz MC, Sway & Plan B

'Shifty' is a British independent film which stars Riz MC/Riz Ahmed and Daniel Mays (from 'The Bank Job' which I watched only last night!) and "sits somewhere between Kidulthood and Snatch". The film is release on April 24th. See the trailer below for a taste of what to expect.



Riz MC has teamed up with Sway and Plan B to record the theme song also entitled 'Shifty' which is produced by True Tiger. Production wise it's what you'd expect of any Hip Pop track at the moment (it should appeal to the radio listeners) but the intelligent and quality social commentary courtesy of the 3 MCs makes this a great track. The guys behind the film are also running a Bedroom Producer competition at www.shiftyfilm.com/bedroom.php. The stems from the Shifty soundtrack are provided for download and budding producers are being asked to remix the original track with the winner bagging £500 plus studio time with a producer to complete the track.

'Scene Stealers'/'Last Dayz' ft. Plan B - Skreintax (single review)

Skreintax, the hook-up between Skrein and Dr. Syntax, released their album ‘Scene Stealers’ in December, an album which despite being excellent, sounded like it should have arrived during the summer months.

Now a few months and a whole load of snow deep into winter, title track ‘Scene Stealers’ still needs some sun however its combination of limber putdowns, Dag Nabbit’s heavy drums and DJ IQ’s cuts is welcome.

Flipside ‘Last Dayz’ is what’s going to attract attention here, not least because it isn’t available elsewhere. It’s a neck snapping, British type Hip Hop club banger that features Plan B, who leaves the guitar aside and spits harder than he’s ever done before. The three MCs rail against all aspects of social evils whilst giving real UK Hip Hop fans what they want and need.

‘Scene Stealers’/’Last Dayz’ featuring Plan B is out on Dented Records on 23rd February. Their album ‘Scene Stealers’ (pictured) is also available now.

'Pieces' ft. Plan B - Chase and Status

Chase and Status have messed around with UK Hip Hop before, with good results. Akala and Dizzee Rascal have both had the D'n'B treatment from these dudes, the latter being an absolute banger - better than the original ('Sirens') if you ask me.

With their latest D'n'B/UKHH outing being a bonafide collaboration, not a remix, it had to feature on the hallowed pages of Certified Banger. They've hooked up with Plan B on 'Pieces' and for all those newly converted Pendulum fans, this is for you. It's definitely along those rocky/D'n'B lines but fans of UK rap may be interested to hear it too.
