Charlie Snacks - Fly Shit

New track here from a new artist that we haven't mentioned on the blog before. His name is Charlie Snacks. After a friend of mine put me onto him I was impressed with his newest offering. The track is called 'Fly Shit' and is taken from an upcoming mixtape called ''Mickel Jordins Scrap Raps' set to be released in 2013. The video has a real nice feel to it. The visuals sit nicely with the track showing Charlie doesn't take himself too seriously but has talent to back up his cheeky bravado. Fans of Mac Miller will probably appreciate this.

Solareye - The Pageant EP

Written, recorded and released in a month, The Pageant, is a collection of stories and meanderings; grim fairytales and unlikely truths; ripples and reflections narrated by Stanley Odd rapper, Solareye.

Featuring Louie (Hector Bizerk) and Tickle (Black Lantern) and produced by Dunt (ABAGA Records) and the elusive Harvey Kartel, the EP weaves unsteadily through a carnival of paranoiacs, oddities and misfits.

Solareye and Harvey Kartel will be performing live on the 21st Nov at Bloc, Glasgow, supporting Hector Bizerk and on the 22nd Nov at Electric Circus, Edinburgh, supporting The Milk.

Spitfire - Triple Filtered (Album)

We proudly present Triple Filtered, the debut album from Spitfire.

Having released his debut EP earlier this year along with the single Slow Dance With Satan and accompanying video to critical acclaim, Spitfire is back with 18 tracks of solid hip hop to cement his place in the UK scene. Triple Filtered, like the Spitfire EP, is a myriad of flows, wit and realness with Spitfire bringing something different to each and every track, along with an array of featured artists. Verses from Wordsmiff, Baron Samedi, Bil Next and more bring an extra dimension to the long player, providing compliments and contrasts to Spitfire's unique style.

Produced in it's entirety by Towa, Triple Filtered features a range of beats from brooding slow burners like What Year Is It? and Dr. Graham, to more upbeat cuts like Slow Dance With Satan Part 2 and The Hard Way Out. Spitfire puts his own spin on every beat, bringing a vast amount of content - switching from funny, to dark, to personal and back again seamlessly.

Running to an hour long, this LP showcases Spitfire ability, variety and, most of all, heart and takes you on a ride through the psyches of both him and producer Towa.

The album is released with an accompanying single, No Saving Me, again shot by Toby Cuthbertson which is available on YouTube now!!!

Bibs Quintero - Come Find Me

'Come Find Me' is the debut album by emcee Bibs
Quintero, produced by Pro P and Andy Mac. The 10 track album highlights the artist's hatred towards the current state of music, and seeks to explore the topics of life, death and escapism. Strong personality traits appear in specific tracks, where Bibs touches on a thin line between right and wrong. Consequently, certain tracks have been
described as offensive. However, it is more of an attempt to mock situations in life that we might otherwise cry about. Therefore offence is not the intended reaction. The album is enlightened by featuring guests such as Mnsr Frites, Archetype, Unk Artist, Fear, Guest House, Jester Jacobs, Spee Six Nine and Tash Williams.

Soldjasoulz - 'Soulz Of the Storm'

A strong sounding project here from Soldjasoulz. Anyone who is familiar with their sound already will know they demonstrate influences from both the Hip Hop and Reggae world. Listening to their newest release ‘Soulz Of The Storm’ it feels the two rappers (DPF and REDS) have found what they set out to find. The whole project has its own identity and both rappers flow effortlessly together demonstrating both skill and intelligence.

The reggae influence is noticeable throughout with minimalist/electronic beats that blend together nicely through the whole project giving it that ‘complete’ feel. This could be down to good beat choices by the pair as a range of producers are involved including Reds himself, Tricksta and DJ I.C.

Guest appearances include Franko Fraize, J Karma and most noticeably US veteran Main Flow who shines on ‘Night Breed’. Stand out tracks include 'Body Bag', 'Big Kahunas', 'Ghost Pepper' and ‘Paige’; a clever concept track.

Personally I feel 'Soulz Of The Storm' has its own identity. There is not much you can compare it to thats out there already, which helps it stand out strong in this over saturated market of DIY music.

A strong project and well worth a download. ‘Soulz Of The Storm’ is available via Soldjasoulz bandcamp page on a ‘name your price’ basis:

Trooth - Interview

As you know here at Certified Banger we post mostly about UK Hip Hop but we do like to post about worldwide Hip Hop when we can. Today we have an MC from Perth, Australia promoting his latest album entitled "Reborn"

Check it folks as it's dope.

First off let's have a chat with the man himself.

What is your name?
TROOTH (T.he R.awest O.des O.f T.imes H.istory)

How old are you?
Old enough

Where are you from?
I was born and grew up in Perth, Western Australia.

How long have you been making music?
Seriously for about 8 years

How many songs /albums have you released to date?
"Gettin U Junkdafied-The Mixtape" 2006
"Too High-EP"2008
"United We Stand-The Mixtape" 2010 Stream Here
"REBORN-Album" 2012 Stream Here

Can you tell us about your new song/album, the background and inspirations behind it?
The latest Album I released is called Reborn, and it's basically a mixture of raw shit and emotional driven tracks. It was produced by Loftee Beats with some beats from Mat Rafle and Shroomz beats. The title and some of the tracks is a reflection of what was going on in my life at the time.Kinda like leaving the destruction of my past and starting anew, like being reborn. Thats why the cover has a Phoenix rising out of the ashes on it to represent a new start. We did a video for the lead single of the album called,"Tender Lovin," which was directed by Los Angeles's James Wade.

How have you ended up in the music industry?
I think it was by my situation, I had a lot of friends who were into Hip Hop and were spitting rhymes so we use to do it as fun when we were teenagers. I got serious about Hip Hop music after a gig I went to and saw that the culture wasn't being represented properly. It pissed me off.

What do you think of the music industry in 2012?
I think that Hip Hop today is kinda watered down and lollipop. Like for a rapper today to "make it" he dosen't really need that much skill, he just needs a colourful past that is marketed well and boom. I think people are more intrested in someone's life rather than the talent. That is wack in my eyes cause for me Hip Hop was never about that. It was about skill and heart. Who had the most skill and heart to come up and do your thing.I mean the underground is alive and kicking but the mainstream is going through a soft cock stage. No one talks bout real issues in the mainstream anymore, it's all la dee dah shit. Also I think the market is flooded with too many artists and not enough fans. Due to the increase in technology every fool with a computer thinks he's Dr Dre and every fool with a home studio thinks he's Eminem. So there's a lot of wackness out there. People gotta understand that this shit is real, it's a lot of hard work and sacrifice. I think people like the "image" of being a Hip Hop artist rather than doing what you have to do to be one of the best.

Who inspires you when you make your music?
wow umm I think the best inspiration comes from Life. Like for me it's a process, like I process what happens in my life or what I see in life by writing rhymes about it.Helps me deal with shit. In terms of rappers my biggest influences have been 2pac and Eminem. I look up to any one that has gone against the grain in society and stood up for what they believed in, people like Ali,Ghandi, Martin Luther King,Malcolm X,Aung San Suu Kyi etc

Who have you collaborated with so far in your Career?
I have collabed with a few artists here in Perth. The mixtape United We Stand has a lot of collaborations from people in Perth. The latest collab is with Phil Da Agony from the LA group Strong Arm Steady. We did a song called, "RUCKUS." Stream Here

Also I'm about to put the finishing touches on a collab with LA's native Chase Los Angeles.

Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
Anyone that is real about their shit and real about Hip Hop.

What was the first album u brought?
"Straight Outta Compton" NWA or the "La Bamba" soundtrack..can't remember which one.

Whats your favorite song at the moment?
The Don- NAS

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your drawer?
That's a tough one bro. There would be a couple. The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory-2pac, Recovery-Eminem and Illmatic-NAS

What do you think of TV music talent show competitions?
hahaha, man I aint really down with that shit, I think that people are more concerened with being famous then making good music. I mean yeah you might get a name if you win one of those comps but then you become a slave to a label, you have to make music that they say you have to make. I don't think I could do that. It's designed for top tv ratings rather than making dope music so yeah nah I aint fucking with that bull shit...hahaha.

What do you do when your not making music?
Beat off..nah Im playing. Man I love watching movies. I'm a movie fiend!!

Whats your favorite Fashion brand?
Nike

Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
Not yet (Tattoos, I aint getting no Piercings)

How many pairs of trainers do you own?
I use to own heaps when I lived in Melbourne but now I only have a modest amount. 12 pairs, mainly Jordans.

How many hats do you own?
Dam I had a lot of those too but once they get all dirty n shit I normally give them away so at the moment I got about 5 hats. But I always get new ones.

Whats your favorite takeaway?
Chinese

How many followers do you have on twitter?
I actually don't know, I got an account but I don't really use that shit. Man i can't imagine people wanting to know what I think every 2 secs. If I did write what i thought, I'd probably be in Jail.

Thank you for your time and may u carry on making dope music

MOG - Went South (Music Video)

Taken from the album: In Black N White (PCP022)

 Produced by Steg G - www.powercutproductions.com

Video edited by Gregor Scott - www.scotstyle.co.uk

Werd - Untitled Scot (Album)

Werd (SOS) is an award winning, Edinburgh based hip-hop artist well known throughout the Scottish scene. He has worked with, and continues to work with new and old artists in Scotland and abroad, creating music with some of Scotland’s top producers and artists in the genre. Further to performing gigs at venues in the major cities, and hosting rap battles with Scotland Stand Up and UK’s Don’t Flop, Werd has excelled in this field, supporting the likes of Dr Syntax, Stig of The Dump, S.A.S. and Devlin in recent times.

As one of Scotland’s most established rappers, with countless mix-tape release and collaboration projects, it is remarkable that this is Werd’s first solo album. With a variation of styles and content it’s difficult to categorize this release to a specific tone, however that also means whatever style of hip-hop you prefer, there’s something here for everyone. This is a must have for fans of UK / Scottish hip-hop. On one hand we have deep personal songs such as ‘Find My-Sell’ and ‘MY State Of Mind’ that seep emotion, here we listen to Werd reflect on his life and journey within music. However, on the other end of the spectrum we have hard hitting punch lines and high energy tracks that we have come to expect from the Edinburgh emcee.

Production on the album comes in many forms and features an elite selection of Scottish beat-makers such as Nasty P, Bigg Taj, Scant Squad, UVBeatz & more. Furthermore, the vocal features on the release also contain the cream of the crop from the Scottish scene, Madhat McGore, Deeko, Wardie Burns, Conscious Route and Glasgow’s Mog to name a few. This isn’t only a release for pushing his music further, but rather the whole genre in Scotland.

Untitled Scot release 31st July 2012 on Sons of Scotland (SOS)

Available on Itunes, Amazon and all other good digital sites, stream on Spotify or Bandcamp. For CD Digipack copies please visit: http://untitledscot.weebly.com/

Conscious Route - Real World LP

Conscious Route is a London born rapper, poet and singer-songwriter who grew up in Herfordshire near Cambridge before moving to Edinburgh, where he is now based. Conscious Route founded the CCF movement (Conscious Collaboration Front) as well as holding Conscious Collective events. Here is an artist that has a lot to say with a real talent for making songs that connect with the listener, this isn't just Hip-Hop, this is Conscious Route, something new, exciting and refreshingly original.

He is no new comer to music and is known to be an influential character who has done a lot of work in short time, as well as creating the Conscious Route band and also his new band project the Urban Folk Crowd. His past releases with Fugazi Rum where notable projects where he was better known then as Mosman. In the last six months he has released music with Werd (SOS) on the 'Nowdays EP' and the 'Hear No See No Speak No Evil EP' with Werd and also Blasfima Sinna.

With a string of leading blogs already championing the album, as well as various mixtape deejays, radio show presenters and event promoters being to get up on this talented individual, things are really stepping up for this hard working focused vocalist. With a string of features with known artists and upcoming acts this Rapper is not shy of grafting his expression, bringing positive ryhmes and heavy steady flows of reality in his verses.

Now as he gears up for his full album release on August 14th, he gives us an official free track taster of what to expect. Conscious Route and Blasfima Sinna team up on this track to tell people what 'the real world' is about, with some punch-line chat and some real-world business, this tune is a banger. Expect to be taken on a heavy ride of hard hitting beats and flows, buckle up tight and enjoy.

If we do recieve any tracks after that we will try to keep them for the next one.

Here are the submission rules

1. High Quality MP3's Only

2. Add a small bio, Photo and a litle info on the track in the email along with any links including your social media links

3. Entitle Your Email "On the Radar Submission". For obvious reasons

5. Attach your track to an email or an upload site and send the link.

6. Tracks should be clearly tagged in this Format: Artist name - Song Title & Featured Artists (Production Credits)

Thats about it really.

Conscious Route & Blasfimma Sinna - Flight Of The Ambitious EP

Conscious Route and Blasfima Sinna met by chance when Werd introduced them at the SOS headquaters, shortly after the 'Hear No, See No, Speak No Evil' E.p was born. Finding a deep connection, and being of like minds and attitudes, the pair decided to do record together.

The resulting E.P. is a blend of heavy beats and conscious rhyming, bringing deep flows over Lacuna Beats' production, with all the vocals recorded, mixed and mastered at SOS headquarters by Drew Devine.

This E.P. side-steps the gun talk that characterises a lot of mainstream Hip Hop, opting instead to draw on influences such as the, more positive, 1990s Native Tongues movement.

The EP is available on Bandcamp and Amazon

Spitfire - The Spitfire EP (Free Download)

Hailing from the South Coast Spitfire is a young up and coming MC who's been starting to make a name for himself in the UK scene with a the release of several free download tracks in quick succession over beats from producers from all around the world. Now, with the release of his eponymous debut extended play - also free download - he's ready to really start making his mark on UK hiphop. The Spitfire EP is a 5 track slice of real, raw lyricism combining witty quips with sharp metaphors over beats produced by Spitfire's musical partner in crime Towa, which recall classic hiphop vibes with smart modern twists.

Amongst the 5 hard hitting tracks on the EP is "Slow Dance With Satan" which was released to a good critical response earlier in 2012 and has been building a steady momentum ever since. The video for the track will drop soon along with a video for another banger on the EP, The Cavalry. Featuring Spitfire dropping countless flows over a sparse un-nerving beat it is not a tune to be missed. Look out for Spitfire's YouTube channel coming very soon!

Kulez - Artist Timeline

What if 2 Pac and Biggie recorded their beef in freestyle battles on the streets of New York and Los Angeles? Hip Hop Shop footage of Eminem and Proof was easily available on you tube. You can still find first hand accounts from fans that caught Jay-Z and Nas at open mics. And what if early bedroom and demo recordings of your favourite artists were online for you to follow and piece together the building blocks that made them.

Kulez came up battling and free styling like most underground emcees. He worked his way up from wining a few hundred pounds at local club nights to being crowned champion at nationwide and worldwide competitions with wins of up to ten thousand pounds. At the age of 16 most kid’s biggest worry is getting their GCSE results. Kulez was already paving his career path being one of United Kingdom’s finest freestyle rappers. By the age of 17 he had been flown out internationally to fly the union jack high making him a cult hero and was already a prominent name in British Hip Hop with no official releases.

“…United Kingdom’s finest freestyle rappers.”

A&Rs in London wanted Kulez. Record Labels wanted Kulez on their roster. He influenced and inspired a battle scene that has now become a global phenomenon. His battles were easy to find as they where distributed by jumpoff.tv but Kulez wasn’t as he wasn’t on the streets of London like his battles portrayed him to be, but focusing on his education in the country side of Norwich.

At 18 years old he released his debut single independently as well as a mixtape which was a mix of tracks he had been making from his teens. He tells the tales with quirky concepts of skipping class, making easy money, house parties and dumping girls – stories a lot of people his age could relate to. Street battles with over a million views and downloads worldwide made him the hottest rapper on the roads at the time which is what he was trying to achieve musically. He self distributed the mixtape and generated similar hype to K-Koke – Pure Koke Vol. 1 single handily with hand to hand street distribution. The host on the mixtape DJ Ames won awards for best host on a mixtape in America, shame it didn’t receive the same recognition on home turf.

Going through severe personal problems that led to heavy addictions Kulez found it hard to get motivated. A lot of his time was spent procrastinating suffering from writers block. Kuda Brown was born who was an alias, side character, who he blamed for this behaviour but still managed to release what he could for his most sincere fan base.

Now at 22, Kulez is back trying to get his buzz back and really build his brand to become hot property in 2012.
