Check out this live footage of Hip Hop band Millionaires by Morning. You may recognise the track and the MC - it's 'Pass That' by Truth, a track taken from his free 'Procrastinat(K)ing' album. The album track features Kosyne. Looking forward to hearing more live UK Hip Hop music from this talented bunch!

'Ya Dad Knows About This One' - Chris L (review)

This one’s been around for a while now but if you’ve not checked it out yet you might want to reconsider your ignorant behaviour. Macc lad Chris L has jacked a hefty selection of beats and sprayed a boat load of tongue in cheek lyrics all over them. Productions previously heard on releases by Skinnyman, Dr. Syntax, Mark B, Foreign Beggars, Nas, Dirty Diggers and Baby J all get blessed with an equal amount of respect and impertinence from the mouth of Mr. Leese.

Stig of the Dump hosts ‘Ya Dad Knows About This One’ and if you’re after a bit of a giggle, some good rhymes and beats then buy yersen a copy. Top tracks are ‘Macc Town’ - a synical but loving assessment of Macclesfield, ‘Subcultures’ (which follows the original concept, watch for the D’n’B MCs bit – jokes) and ‘Mane-Stream’ is a scoffing take on poppy southern Hip Hop.

The CD features Ben B, Baron Samedi, EDXL, Antidote, Truth, Mic Dyson, Filthy Rich and more (apparently) and in the words of Doc Synners “bless him, he’s tried really hard with this one”! Some of the recording, EQing and mastering could be better (it was done in a “stinking bedroom in 2006/2007) but Chris promises better on the next CD. Hit Chris L up on myspace and get yourself a copy.

Suspect Packages Radio Show July

Bit late on this and probs none of you are cos it's Supect Packages radio show innit and where else would you be hearing all the next stuff before you can get your mitts on it? Nowhere, that's where.

So as usual Disorda packs a lot of UK Hip Hop into his allotted time - and mroe than usual cos there are no live shenanigans. Anyways, there's loadsa good stuff as you would expect from all of the best current UK artists including Kyza, Micall Parknsun, Delusionists, Elemental and Tom Caruana, Danny Spice, Dialect, Truth and loads more MCs who you read about regularly at Certified Banger. Check it out yo.

The Procrastinat(K)ing - Truth Interview

"I think a lot of artists in England are too desperate to make it a career instead of taking time out to build a fan base..."

I've not been up on my interview game in the last few weeks so I thought it was about time I brought you some more words from a few rappers and the like. Hopefully you already clocked the ABD interview and if you're reading this, you're about to check out the words of another MC - Truth:

Certified Banger: Yo Truth! For the peeps who don’t know, who are you and what do you do with your time?

Truth: I refresh a lot of internet pages whilst looking for a job. Ain’t NOBODY hiring right now. I’m also an MC, an inactive beat maker since my MPC broke and I promote the Rapsploitation Sessions nights in Ipswich.

'Procrastinat(K)ing' - Truth (free download)

Copped this free download fresh last night and here it is now for you. Truth is the man behind the big Rapsploitation sessions (the best UK Hip Hop artists rockin' in Ipswich!) and this time it's his turn to drop a few bars on you.

Over a nice selection of heavy and varied beats (each from a different producer) Truth does what he does in the way he knows how and this 9 tracker turns out to be pretty dope.

A few guests drop by to kick a verse - Eat Good guy Kosyne spits on 'Pass That' (on a re-listen, it's not your average weed track, more like an anti-weed track!), The Colony's Grimlok voices his desires on 'Wannadoo' and SonnyJim and Conflix rap on the foreign-sounding 'Heavyweight'.

'Rap By Numbers' and 'Take Time' (produced by Sivey) are favourites of mine although I could bump this half hour set from beginning to end more than a few times. Think I will.

February's Suspect Packages radio show is up and ready for you to download. This month Disorda's guest didn't show so you get more music than usual.

Interestingly the show features many 'On The Radar' artists past (Skillet, Truth)and present (Joker Starr, Assa, Jay Madden, Dialect, JVF Clique, Dabbla, The Three Amigos, Antiheroes) and all the current favourites of Certified Banger (SonnyJim, Jyager, Sir Smurf Lil, Lowkey and more).

It also includes the usual old skool selection at the end with cuts from 3PM, Gunshot, Unanimous Decision and Pointblank amongst others - get schooled in the old skool.

'Rapsploitation Sessions' - VA - Jimmy Green & Truth (compilation review)

Do not sleep on this release. One of a few compilation/mix CDs around this moment, this one won’t disappoint. Featuring tracks from artists who have performed at Ipswich’s only Hip Hop night Rapsploitation Sessions it’s clear that Truth and Jimmy Green have good taste in music.

The artist album tracks here are the cream of the crop: Mr. Drastick’s Chemo produced ‘Give it Up’, Def Tex’s ‘Bomber’, SonnyJim’s ‘Next Generation’, Reain’s ‘Rap Game’…the list goes on. It’s great to hear a load of good familiar tracks in sequence as chosen by someone else - saves me ripping and burning my own CD. From an album I’ve not yet heard; Precise Da Analyzer and Dubbledge get hilariously mean on ‘Neverland’ (“You’ll never be friends like Joey’s new sitcom”).

The non-album tracks stand up to the already released tunes and there are a couple of proper stand outs. Kosyne’s ‘A Tale of a Tenner’ proves that he’s one to watch as he spins a sordid yarn of crime concerning one ten pound note. Ghost, Verb T and Kashmere debut as Invisible Inc on the lovely end-of-night chill-out vibes of ‘Invisible Inc Theme’. Even host Truth steps up with ‘Body of Work’, produced by Jimmy Green, the CD’s DJ. The new Vinyl Dialect cut ‘Spray’ proves they’ve truly refined their sound whilst preserving the curveball rhymes.

I could go on describing the merits of each of the track on here, I’ve not even mentioned the tunes by Sir Smurf Lil’, Verb T, Stylah, Conspicuous and all the other heads on this release. ‘Rapsploitation Sessions’ is a varied but perfectly sequenced collection of some of the newer stars of UK rap. This one I really will bump repeatedly.

It’s out now on P.Found Music and can be gotten over at their myspace for a barge-in £5 plus p&p. I’d buy it so you should too man.
