Scizzahz - Workaholic (Video)

Not quite sure what to make of this. Strong lyrical performance from Sussex's Scizz, really don't like the drums though... I guess, as he says himself, 'you can't have everything'...

WTF Happened to TerraFirma - LWD trailer

Slademan posted a link to this promo trailer for Skriblah DanGogh's new album 'Little White Dot' over at MPC Forums. The video only has a snippet of album track 'Revalations' at the very end which was produced by Slademan as well as future single 'LWD' but what you get visually makes it worth the wait. Check out and explore Skriblah's website by clickin on the blueness above for more information and loads of dope music. Luckily we wont have to wait too long to find out "What is waiting at the end of the darkness…?'' as the album is due to drop in the summer so thats soon...ish in my opinion

Bonafide Issue 05 Old School x New School - Out Now!

Get yourself over to www.bonafidezine.com to grab the latest copy of the UK's freshest mag. It's mad full of the coolest music, graphics and fashion and issue 5 is all about the old school and the new school. It features Grandmaster Flash, EPMD, El-P, J Rocc, Dels and Brainfeeder's designer Charles Munka. Nice.

If you've yet to check out the mag you can order up some back copies whilst you're there. A couple of them even have writings in them from me.

Random Axe - Random Call

Another track from the Random Axe LP surfaced on Duck Downs soundcloud last week. Random Call as I hope youd expect is yet more proof that this project is gonna be one of the biggest to drop this year. Black Milk's smooth on the hook with a lazy 8 bar Guilt and P dont dissapoint on the verses either. The highly anticipated album is released on June 14th so get your pre orders in or make a date in your calender, you better have a good reason not too.

Mr Flex - Nothin to Prove EP

Mr Flex of Chosen Spokesman released this free EP a week or 2 ago Hartigan posted the title track a couple months back and warned you keep 'em peeled, youve only got yourselves to blame. Flex gets a gaggle of the best producers in the UK on board to provide a solid backdrop for him to call out all those soft cats and explore the ills of his Londinium community. Chemo, Kelakovski and Beat Butcha deliver the goods as youd expect while Risk Beats does well to slip into the fold with such heavy hitters. Album closer 1000 Deaths features Iron Braydz and Ransom Badbonez on irrepressible form. The EP is easy on play back and holds up against the more prolific artists coming out of London at the moment its cut hooks and dark themes make for a cohesive listen with very few lapses in quality. Follow the player below to Flexs bandcamp page to D/L the EP for free

Slaine - Landscapes feat. Vinnie Paz and Reef prod. by Hirolla

Glasto producer Hirolla is mixing with the big boys on this banger featuring Philly and Boston underground stalwarts Slaine, Vinnie Paz and Reef the Lost Cauze. Landscapes will be on Slaines next album A World with no Skies available on August 16th. A classicly cut common bar provides the hook echoeing Premos traditional steeze. The boom bap of the kick/snare and prominant hats stay close to MCs usual backdrop, think snowgoons and AOTP on a good day. Hirolla delivers true school stylings and a splash of golden era checkout his soundcloud out for more cross-atlantic business. You can also follow the player to hulkshare to snap up Landscapes for free.

Vid from Bristol's Buggsy, taken from his album The Great Escape, which has just dropped. I haven't checked the album yet, but if this is anything to go by, it should be dope.

Self Scientific - Trials of the Blackhearted

I posted a little before this dropped but didnt actually post the link to the free D/L of Trials of the Blackhearted so here it is. I downloaded this when it first came out and I listen to War Stories at least once a day, the track is up there with shook ones, dragon kings, manimals and krazy. The rest of the album is dope save for Peaceful where the usually on point Krondon misses the mark on hook duties. DJ Khalil, not to be confused with Miami lamo DJ Khaled, weaves instrumentation, samples and cuts with wall shaking drums and neck snapping patterns. Chace Infinate can speak on any subject with bags of style while asserting his views and thoughts with wisdom and authority. Everywhere I Go, Gods Language, Verses vs Versus and War stories are exceptional songs and should not be slept on the album has everything you could possibly want or expect from an established group like Self Scientific and they're literally giving this away. ''Come in peace, prepare for war....''

Surg & Hellfire - Live and Learn free D/L

Ive known Hellfire for a while now through MPC Forums and hes always stood out as contributer and producer. His sample arrangements are always original and varied, his drums have that classic MPC groove and he has great chemistry with Surg. The NJ rapper has consious rhymes and isnt afraid to tackle a concept or experiment with adlibs and hooks. Personally I found the LP a little hook happy but when they get it right youll have trouble forgetting those 8/16 bars for a couple hours. The 2nd album from the duo is available for free from their band camp page (enter $0 if you want it free or name your own price) or Hellfirebeats and if you got a few pennies spare you can grab a hard copy from either source.

Dragon of an Ordinary Family snippets on SP and Amazon

Unfortunately Im not as bigger cheese as alot of these other bloggers so I wish I could give it the old ''yeah Ive already heard Jehst's new album I got it for free....blah blah'' but sadly I cant I can however bring to your attention the snippets and artwork online to get you ready for its early June release date. From the teeny tiny bits Ive heard it sounds like the 5 or 6 year wait for a new LP proper from Jehst has been well worth it. Im a little dissapointed to see there are no features on the album as Jehst works so well with so many other MCs and it usually brings a more varied sound having said that the huddersfield to kent to london lyricist has a magnitude of incredible solo work and with producers like chemo, beat butcha and lg as well as himself theres very little chance of another nuke dropping. Keep em peeled cos thisll be out before you know it.

*edit not sure why but it appears that every link Ive posted to snippet sources have now been removed Ive switched it to Suspect Packages and Amazon now as I doubt theyll be taken down there....seems strange they dont want anyone to hear the album or parts of it, unless its a technically/web problem. Its a shame because itll only strenghthen anticipation and exposure for this album. Oh well if you dont want free promo taking down the links is the best way to loose it.

DJ Roast - Drop a Gem on 'em...free mix

Cons - June Bug Soon Come... free D/L

Conspicuous or Cons as hes currently goin under has put in alot of work and put out some classic material in his time, from gems like Therapy with the legendary Colony to anthems like Want Me Back hes always delivered that authentic, soulfull, true school sound. June Bug Soon Come offers a taster of his next LP proper ''June Bug'' that will be released on June the 6th, bet you didnt see that coming. Cons reunites with Colony members willo, smurf and grimlock as well as regular collaborators seanie t and TB. Cons hasnt slept on the production either with Apa-Tight, 7th Dan, Jabba Tha Kut and himself on the beats. After a quick 1st listen I wasnt dissapointed at all Cons doesnt shift to far from his usual autobiographical social commentary, hes quick to cut a popstar down and always seeking recognition and respect. The dude knows how to pick and make a dope beat too he also works-in original and catchy hooks often blending vocal samples to great effect. As a LP this mixtape is pretty good as a free mixtape, proberly consisting of tracks that didnt make the album cut, this is exceptional and free HERE

TENCHOO - SCARY MOVIE (OUT NOW)

16 songs for only £5 you cant go wrong.
Have a listen here, you wont be disappointed

I know Professor Elemental is not going to be everyone's cup of tea (aaagh, sorry had to be done), but I must say I'm a bit of a sucker for anything involved with Tea Sea Records. This project is basically a compilation of remixes of Elemental tracks from over the years. To be frank, it is rather inconsistent. But Elemental is unique, and for that alone he should be applauded.

Leaf Dog - Some People Say

High Focus records are pretty prolific these days. Here's the first vid off their next release, From A Scarecrow's Perspective by Leaf Dog, which drops June 13th. So far Leaf Dog's beats have impressed me more than his rhymes, but here is a full length opportunity to prove me wrong.

Random Axe - The Hex

Guilty Simpson, Sean Price and Black Milk are Random Axe...album dropping JUNE 14th on Duck Down Records. Sleeping is for babies.......

KYZA - Cold Steel

Kyza tears through Dillas Cold Steel beat he sticks with Phat Kats original concept even including a warning of the dangers of guns at beginning. Amos Jones's simple rhyme highlights and close up shots keep up with the pace of Kyzas rhymes and makes the one take video more interesting. Always been a big Kyza fan Im glad he's still making dope music. Keep an eye out for more from Amos' Freestyle Sessions if the rest are anywhere near as good as this itll be worth it.

Ms Tempz feat. Lee Gough - Same Road video

Legendary Notts MC Tempa or Ms Tempz gets deep with Same Road. Sharing her past and plans for the future over an acoustic track accomponied by Lee Goughs incredible voice. Faolan Jones handles the gritty visuals perfectly complimenting the tone of Tempa's introspective content. Tempz is working hard to promote her next album that will drop towards the end of the year this track alongside her current output reinforce her place in the ''scene'' as one of the most talented yet unrewarded MCs still making music in the UK. Tempz also hosts the Miss Tempz show you can find her there playing UK and US hip hop and interviewing live guests every monday from 7 to 9 on Kemet 97.5 FM

Divine Rights TV catch up with Tenchoo for a quick chat and some bars.
Scary Movie his debut album will be out this friday on Haji's Yard/First Son Records.

Skuff - Soldier video

Skuff gives one of the best tracks off his Deep Covers EP the visual treatment. The hazey filters and grainy film effects work really well with the tone of this track (f a budget!). Apparently Skuff is finishing off a new solo album that will be dropping soon and will be playing some festivals with Bioviolence this season so keep 'em peeled

Chattabox & Samuel Otis - Hard Graft

I've been bumping this mixtape from Chattabox & Samuel Otis for the last couple of weeks. This release is a follow up to the free mixtape Stupid O'Clock, that dropped just over a year ago.

As a duo, they bring a pretty unique sound, with Chattabox coming from the north east, and Otis from the south west. As virtually all the production is original, this is probably nearer an album than a mixtape, and barring a few misplaced features, it could pass for album quality as well. As with their work with Dialect & Lowercase, Chattabox & Otis always have some very catchy hooks, and melodic flows. At only 3 quid, this release is well worth your hard earned.

There should be more collaborations between artists from different sides of the country. The varied accents give the project a unique flavour, and help keep tracks interesting from one verse to the next.

Soul Junkies - Starin' at the Wall teaser

As one half of the group Soul Junkies Ive been preparing to realese our next LP with Demigod. We've almost finished the album which will be titled ''SOUL JUNK'' and hopefully ready for release by the summer. It featuers artists from Greece, America and around the UK, Starin at the Wall is a horror concept track (the only one on the lp) the video features one verse from the completed track you will be able to hear the rest on the album. I made the stop motion video a couple months ago with a kidrobot Munny and some other stuff lying around the house...for the record it took forever but it was really rewarding when I finally put it together. Apologies for the self promotion but you gotta believe in your own product right?....anyway enjoy and keep 'em peeled for the lp over the next couple months.

Jack Flash & Wizard - Steamrolling

I don't usually bother posting youtube non-videos, but here is some new Jack Flash... What's more, it's produced by Wizard, and even better than that it is apparently going to feature on a joint album that Flash & Wiz have that will drop 'sooner than expect', whenever that is...

Soldjasoulz - Your Mum Loves Reggae

A new EP here from a duo that have been posted previously on Certified Banger over the years. They go by the name of Soldjasoulz.

Soldjasoulz consist of Redeye and DPF. DPF is a name you should already be familiar with having made a huge mark on the scene over the years. His release ‘It will Never Catch On’ , released via Son records, went on to receive number 39 position in Hip Hop Connections top 40 albums of the year back in 2008.

As for Redeye he has also been mentioned on this blog for his work with Chronicredeye. The release ‘Knowledge is King’ featured Main Flow and Bronze Nazareth and Redeye has also teamed up with Hell Razah. Definatly names to be proud of sharing beats with.

This release ‘Your Mum Loves Reggae’ is a five track EP showcasing the two MCs over beats ranging from dancehall to rap. Each MC brings their own style and both impress with flows and bars throughout. The standout track for me is ‘Blaze it up’, a summer anthem for anyone who enjoys a good smoke. Franko Fraize features on the track ‘Now Sush’ and Tricksta shows up for production duties on ‘Heavy Manners’.

This has already received an impressive number of plays in the little time it has been online.

Go have a listen your self and see what all the fuss is about.

Cyrus Malachi - Animal Circus (video)

Cyrus Malachi has been pretty prolific in releasing videos to support Ancient Future, which dropped a couple of weeks ago. This vid for Animal Circus is already the third that he has brought us. In this track he breaks down the history of hip-hop as he sees it, and details some of his early influences from the UK. Fascinating stuff, laid down over some moody keys and thumping drums courtesy of Jon Phonics. This is the type of stuff I think Phonics is best at, and whilst you'd never want an artist to pidgeonhole themselves, I occasionally get the feeling that Jon Phonics tries a little too hard to seem like an eclectic 21st century producer rather than sticking to what is clearly a strength.

Prose - For The Love/What's Love (video)

Prose get all 90s on us by dropping a split video, featuring two of the tracks from their Force of Habit album. Both tunes are dope, as is virtually everything on the album, so if you haven't checked it out yet, do so...

Styly Cee & Cappo - The Fallout - single

Here is a brand new single from Styly Cee & Cappo, which will be the title track off their upcoming album. The album is a follow up to 2008's H-Bomb EP, and if this track is anything to go by, then we can expect very similar material to that EP.
