Trooth - Interview

As you know here at Certified Banger we post mostly about UK Hip Hop but we do like to post about worldwide Hip Hop when we can. Today we have an MC from Perth, Australia promoting his latest album entitled "Reborn"

Check it folks as it's dope.

First off let's have a chat with the man himself.

What is your name?
TROOTH (T.he R.awest O.des O.f T.imes H.istory)

How old are you?
Old enough

Where are you from?
I was born and grew up in Perth, Western Australia.

How long have you been making music?
Seriously for about 8 years

How many songs /albums have you released to date?
"Gettin U Junkdafied-The Mixtape" 2006
"Too High-EP"2008
"United We Stand-The Mixtape" 2010 Stream Here
"REBORN-Album" 2012 Stream Here

Can you tell us about your new song/album, the background and inspirations behind it?
The latest Album I released is called Reborn, and it's basically a mixture of raw shit and emotional driven tracks. It was produced by Loftee Beats with some beats from Mat Rafle and Shroomz beats. The title and some of the tracks is a reflection of what was going on in my life at the time.Kinda like leaving the destruction of my past and starting anew, like being reborn. Thats why the cover has a Phoenix rising out of the ashes on it to represent a new start. We did a video for the lead single of the album called,"Tender Lovin," which was directed by Los Angeles's James Wade.

How have you ended up in the music industry?
I think it was by my situation, I had a lot of friends who were into Hip Hop and were spitting rhymes so we use to do it as fun when we were teenagers. I got serious about Hip Hop music after a gig I went to and saw that the culture wasn't being represented properly. It pissed me off.

What do you think of the music industry in 2012?
I think that Hip Hop today is kinda watered down and lollipop. Like for a rapper today to "make it" he dosen't really need that much skill, he just needs a colourful past that is marketed well and boom. I think people are more intrested in someone's life rather than the talent. That is wack in my eyes cause for me Hip Hop was never about that. It was about skill and heart. Who had the most skill and heart to come up and do your thing.I mean the underground is alive and kicking but the mainstream is going through a soft cock stage. No one talks bout real issues in the mainstream anymore, it's all la dee dah shit. Also I think the market is flooded with too many artists and not enough fans. Due to the increase in technology every fool with a computer thinks he's Dr Dre and every fool with a home studio thinks he's Eminem. So there's a lot of wackness out there. People gotta understand that this shit is real, it's a lot of hard work and sacrifice. I think people like the "image" of being a Hip Hop artist rather than doing what you have to do to be one of the best.

Who inspires you when you make your music?
wow umm I think the best inspiration comes from Life. Like for me it's a process, like I process what happens in my life or what I see in life by writing rhymes about it.Helps me deal with shit. In terms of rappers my biggest influences have been 2pac and Eminem. I look up to any one that has gone against the grain in society and stood up for what they believed in, people like Ali,Ghandi, Martin Luther King,Malcolm X,Aung San Suu Kyi etc

Who have you collaborated with so far in your Career?
I have collabed with a few artists here in Perth. The mixtape United We Stand has a lot of collaborations from people in Perth. The latest collab is with Phil Da Agony from the LA group Strong Arm Steady. We did a song called, "RUCKUS." Stream Here

Also I'm about to put the finishing touches on a collab with LA's native Chase Los Angeles.

Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
Anyone that is real about their shit and real about Hip Hop.

What was the first album u brought?
"Straight Outta Compton" NWA or the "La Bamba" soundtrack..can't remember which one.

Whats your favorite song at the moment?
The Don- NAS

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your drawer?
That's a tough one bro. There would be a couple. The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory-2pac, Recovery-Eminem and Illmatic-NAS

What do you think of TV music talent show competitions?
hahaha, man I aint really down with that shit, I think that people are more concerened with being famous then making good music. I mean yeah you might get a name if you win one of those comps but then you become a slave to a label, you have to make music that they say you have to make. I don't think I could do that. It's designed for top tv ratings rather than making dope music so yeah nah I aint fucking with that bull shit...hahaha.

What do you do when your not making music?
Beat off..nah Im playing. Man I love watching movies. I'm a movie fiend!!

Whats your favorite Fashion brand?
Nike

Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
Not yet (Tattoos, I aint getting no Piercings)

How many pairs of trainers do you own?
I use to own heaps when I lived in Melbourne but now I only have a modest amount. 12 pairs, mainly Jordans.

How many hats do you own?
Dam I had a lot of those too but once they get all dirty n shit I normally give them away so at the moment I got about 5 hats. But I always get new ones.

Whats your favorite takeaway?
Chinese

How many followers do you have on twitter?
I actually don't know, I got an account but I don't really use that shit. Man i can't imagine people wanting to know what I think every 2 secs. If I did write what i thought, I'd probably be in Jail.

Thank you for your time and may u carry on making dope music
