Paul Whites ''Rapping with Paul White'' will be released on the 22nd of August and boasts a line up of rappers most beatmakers can only dream about including Jehst, Danny Brown and Marv Won and of course the droll lynguistics of Guilty Simpson on Trust. Personally Im looking forward to hearing label mate Tranqill on "Rotten Apples". The single is on Pauls bandcamp page for free d/l with the instrumental and album track The Doldrums. Been a a bit slack on the post front this month...what can I say I aint heard nothin worth postin that aint already up....Anyway Im here with a minute of dusty dopeness from a alround awesome MC and production coupling. Sean Price of Heltah Skeltah and Duck Down Records family sent this short verse to Nah Right. Production comes courtesy of Black Milk, further escalating expections for their next release as part of the unbelievable 'super' group Random Axe (Guilty Simpson, Black Milk and Sean Price). Black Milk recently confirmed the project has been mastered so with any luck the yet untitled LP will see release within the next few months. Magestik Legend - Starter Pistol feat. Guilty Simpson

Magestik Legends third LP 'The Great Escape' was released earlier this month, Starter Pistol is a taste of what you can expect from the LP. Guilty Simpson loans his trademark drawl to this track with its crunchy claps and delayed synths this song has Detroit stamped all over it. Although the hook lacks imagination and slows the pace a little Astronote (who handles most of the production on the LP) keeps things bouncy with his beat.

Woah! Feel like I've not posted on here for a while and there's been nuff stuff happening in this UK Hip Hop world. In no particular order:

JC dropped a track from his forthcoming project. Nicky Taurus does the vocal duties and it's called 'Look At Me' - I'm liking the slap bass. Check the No Money Records website for me info.

Pete Cannon (once known as Mr. Dick) of the group Tactical Thinking got himself interviewed over at Rago magazine and if you didn't already, check out his remix of the Foreign Beggars track with Guilty Simpson - 'Prove It' - big.

One of my favourite artists right now Tom Caruana has gone and done a whole MF DOOM remix album and as you'd expect with Doom's rhymes and Caruana's productions it is a banger! Go get it for free here. Apparently there are more to come from Brand Nubian, J-Live, Wu-Tang and more!

Joker Starr posted up a free download called 'Clash of the Titans' which is Ex Machina's remix of a track by US MC Shadowstar (I think that's correct). Anyway, it's dope so download it.

What do Detroit and Geordieland have in common? 'Here and Now' and 'P.H.O.N.E.Y.' - two tracks by UK rapper Baron Von Alias! OK, so how does Motor City fit in? Well 'Here and Now' features Guilty Simpson and 'P.H.O.N.E.Y.' features Frank 'N' Dank - who'da thunk it?

Each tune has its own vibe proving this mysterious figure to have diversity and creativity. 'Here and Now' is a jaunty, non-conformist but nevertheless very Hip Hop affair whereas 'P.H.O.N.E.Y.' is an electronic, double-time heater.

Both tracks are from his album 'Timepiece' which could possibly the biggest Newcastlian surprise since Keegan got United into the Premiership. An in-the-run-up mixtape by Baron Von Alias is available for free download (see the link below and thanks to Kevin Nottingham for this).

Recordkingz 'Heavyweight' Coming Soon

The man responsible for sourcing rare vinyl (check his site/store Recordkingz.com) for the likes of Lord Finesse, Just Blaze, Alchemist, JuJu, Evidence, Buckwild, Havoc and Madlib is on the verge of dropping his debut production album 'Heavyweight'.

That man is UK producer Juliano Creator (one half of The Creators who dropped 'The Weight' in 2000) and this album features Mobb Deep, The Beatnuts, Joell Ortiz, Evidence, Little Brother, Guilty Simpson, Craig G and more.

Juliano, as part of The Creators has produced for Phi Life Cypher, Mos Def & Talib Kweli, Phil Da Agony, Consequence, El de Sensei and Diamond D. His success continued with TV music for advertising campaigns including Hugo Boss and Sony, Rare Funk Compilations that he compiled, production and remix credits on hit singles for artists like Nas and Dilated Peoples.

'Rock Ya Shoulders' featuring The Beatnuts and 'Heat' featuring Mobb Deep are the current singles, both on itunes now and 12" in February. Keep your peepers peeled for more info, a review and an interview.

'Sick Day' ft. Craig G - L.G.P (video)

L.G.P. (Lidget Green Project) make the trans-Atlantic leap with the track 'Sick Day'. It features Queens legend Craig G, original Juice Crew member. L.G.P. hails from Boogie Down Bradford, West Yorks - right on my doorstep, and is on DMB records - Defying Musical Boundaries. The frantic hi-hats and the jump-up juddering sample suit the frustration of having to work a soul destroying day job in order to fund ones dreams; the subject of Craig's rhymes.

L.G.P. obviously aim to make the record label's name their mission statement as previous single 'Trusted (Lying B**ch)' featured Guilty Simpson on mic duties. The next release on the label also features Guilty Simpson on a track called 'Guilt Trip' so watch for that.

Both tracks are available on itunes; 'Sick Day' and 'Trusted'.

In which I have hope for mainstream Hip Hop

I had decided to do this post before I heard this track but when I heard it yesterday it really summed up my thinking:

Kero One - Check The Blueprints

To sum his song up he's urging the Hip Hop community, particularly the artists, to look at how Hip Hop should be. He sees importance in analysing what made Hip Hop great in the 80's and 90's, taking those findings and applying it to making new music. Obviously this could lead to music sounding the same and being stuck in the past but what I hope to prove in ten tracks is that this might not be the case but that it actually might be the way forward. Many of these tracks are examples of how cats from back in the day have had to step up to the plate again to show the world how it should be done. I hope artists take note.

J Dilla was a producer who really took inspiration from the culture of sampling in the 90's.

Old guy + Old guy - rivalry = good Hip Hop

Chamillionaire - Hip-Hop Police ft. Slick Rick

When I played this to my brother, he asked "Is this Chamillionaire?", I said "Yes, how can you tell?", he replied "Becasue it sounds like 50 Cent but without the mumbling" - or something like that. Slick Rick is funny. This is probably the most out of place choice here but I do like it.

One more to finish off with:

Jeru the Damaja - One Day

This is a nice short imaginary story personifying Hip Hop and telling of the day when it was kidnapped by the likes of Puff Daddy (or whatever ridiculous moniker he' going under today). Don't worry though, they get Hip Hop back safe and sound.
