Rapper Tag UK - Mystro ---> Ramson ---> Tony D?...

Mystro's imported 3hree6ixty's Austrailian born 'Rapper Tag' concept to the UKs shores. Personally I wasnt aware of the phenomenon till I saw Mystro's video that kick starts the a virtual game of tag between MCs. The concept is (as Mys-diggy explains in the 1st video) a MC spits a verse or freestyle to camera and ends their bars by calling out another MC who intern responds with their bars and calls out the next name and so on. Mystro calls on fellow london stalwart Ransom Badbonez who calls out Tony D. As viewers we're encouraged to pester the next MC to up his video so go get your troll on at if you got Tony Ds fb or twitter ( I cant find one :( ) Both editions have been good so far and with the support of the community this series has the potential to bulid into a showcase for the UK heads and give the aussies a run for their money. Check out part one above and part 2 below hopefully Tony D will be through with part 3 soon....where you at? Keep updated at the officail site brought to you by Hoochinoo HERE

'Terrorist City: Beta Version' - Kal Sereousz (review)

Sounding like a veteran Kal Sereousz bursts onto the underground scene with much confidence. 'Terrorist City: Beta Version' has been in my inbox and on my ipod for a while now but it seems like it's just surfacing now.

With his swagger, street commentary, forceful delivery and penchant for militarily heavy beats (courtesy of Chemo, Jon Phonics, Kelakovski and others) fans of the likes of Klashnekoff won't be disappointed by this new artist. If my recommendation isn't enough then maybe the fact that Mystro and Ramson Badbonez both feature on the same track on this album will. 'Tired' sees each MC do their thing with Kal bridging the gap between the styles of Mys and Ramson.

If you want to get hold of a copy Suspect Packages are stocking it on CD and Datpiff are offering it as a free download (not sure if this is official or not so I'll let you search for the link!).

'Digmund Freud EP' - Mystro (review)

Having heard a great deal of Mystro's back catalogue, his latest single 'Around My Way', some of his new tracks live and having interviewed him about his forthcoming material I was suitably excited about this release - the 'Digmund Freud EP'. I haven't been disappointed.

The aforementioned 'Around My Way' produced by DJ Swerve kicks things off in fine, comedic style - Mystro being the king of laid back punchlines and all. DJ Flip (most notably known in the UK scene for producing Skinnyman's 'Council Estate of Mind') takes over on production for the next 6 tracks. To quote Mystro himself on this EP would probably be best, 'cause he ain't lying: "I've got a track called 'Don’t Worry' – that's probably the track that got it going with the style of what I wanted to do. The chorus is like 'If it ain't life or death, don't worry about it'. – that's the message of the whole ‘Digmund Freud’ thing." The rest of the EP really does fit around this in style so a happy, relaxed and positive time is to be had by all with this release.

The track that lyrically blew me away when I heard it live was the closing tune 'Blue Planet' produced by Jehst. Mystro demonstrates his knowledge of sea life whilst socially commenting on the way we're living here in Britain - this is concept rap done to perfection.

The 'Digmund Freud EP' will be released on Self Destruct Music/Don't Bizznizz on 13th Septemeber 2010. Look out for it - another cracking release from Mystro.

'EP 1' - Loudmouth Melvin (free download)

I've been supporting Loudmouth Melvin since the first 'On The Radar' release in 2008, back when he was just Loudmouth. He's appeared on tracks with Professor Green, Charlie Sloth, Skandal, Black The Ripper, Skillit and America's Saukrates and now he's dropped the first of four free EPs.

The simply named 'EP 1' has a simple concept - bona fide wordplay. Loudmouth Melvin, you see, is a real lyricist who has the knack of turning punchlines and tongue twisters into full conceptual tracks.

Each of the 5 tracks on offer lacks compromise and to prove his confidence in his product the especially heavy 'Fill The Air' featuring Mentalist, Mystro and Skandal comes last. He knows you'll listen through to this point without switching off - saving the best 'til last is something not a lot of artists can do.

'Around My Way' - Mystro (review)

You may not have realised but UK Hip Hop scene mainstay Mystro has a new single out. Mystro's been doing it for years and never makes a bad record - "Is that true? Nah it's not true it's matter of fact, fool."

'Around My Way' is just a really enjoyable and upbeat piece of Hip Hop, full of punchlines and presentable to everyone. Amateurs take note - this is a great example of how Hip Hop should be. The production from DJ Swerve does nothing but complement Mystro's cool, calm and witty delivery.

'Around My Way' is available now on itunes and at Amazon.

For a little free something from Mystro then look no further than his track 'Council Flats' on which he raps over the Joell Ortiz track 'Project Boy'. This track is taken from the forthcoming mixtape my Shortee Blitz entitled 'The Standard volume 1'.

'Around My Way' - Mystro (video)

Check Mystro's latest happy Hip Hop offering - niceness flows like quicksilver of this guy's tongue. Go buy it now at Amazon if you want to.

'Around My Way' - Mystro (video teaser)

Mystro is just a naturally funny guy - so even this little video is worth a watch and a post here.

The track is produced by DJ Swerve and is taken from the 'Digmund Freud' EP which will be released in August 2010 on Self Destruct Music/Don't Bizznizz.

Mystro Interview

"If you do constantly write you end up saying the same thing and that’s what you hear from people who claim they write all the time."

On Saturday night Mystro graced Leeds with his presence as he performed at the Golden Mic Challenge's first round. With a less than adequate sound system (no monitors) Mystro rocked the stage, the crowd and everything else with a set combining old and new material (really dope new material) and afterwards agreed to do an interview with Certified Banger:

Certified Banger: Ok, we don’t need the basics; everyone on the site should know who you are already.

Mystro: Hopefully!

CB: You’ve just come back from Australia and New Zealand. What’ve you been doing there?

Mystro: Just causing more trouble really man. I had to do a festival called Splore in NZ and around that we managed to hook up a few more gigs in Auckland, Wellington. We flew to Australia to do Sydney, Brisbourne and Melbourne just to make it more of a trip. You go all that way, man, it’s gotta be done. I did a bit of writing too but I was just thinking of you lot in the snow really! I went there and did a tour, promoted the ‘F.D.T.’ EP and it went well man. I got some interest for future releases later on in the year to get out in NZ and Oz in terms of distribution and licensing so I’m definitely happy about that.

Mystro Investigates: Ghosts
